Week ending on June 8, 2019, the UK’s Top 10 chart of the best selling retail and wholesale video games, FIFA 19 returns to the top of the physical chart. Days Gone raises to the second position, and Marvel’s Spider-Man re-enters the chart and takes the third place.

FIFA 19 has reclaimed the top spot in the UK physical chart thanks to Sony’s recent Days of Play price promotion.

This is the first week FIFA 19 has topped the chart since the first week of 2019. This week is also the culmination of a boost in sales almost every week, with week-on-week sales this week seeing an increase of 18 percent.

In addition to increased sales FIFA 19 has also been part of Sony’s Days of Play promotion, which has seen the game included in a number of new PlayStation 4 hardware bundles. It’s likely that FIFA 19’s boost in sales will also coincide with a boost to PlayStation 4 hardware sales.

Despite Sony being absent from E3 2019 their Days of Play promotion runs over the entire event, from the 7th of June to the 17th of June. This could be an effort from the platform holder to keep their consoles in the public eye with so many big game announcements coming out.

Four of the top ten spots this week are held by Sony titles thanks to this recent promotion. Blood & Truth dropped to fifth place this week from first last week, and Days Gone rose to second place from fourth last week, with a 19 percent boost in sales week-on-week. Days Gone also saw a new season of free content announced, which has likely helped to boost sales.

Marvel’s Spider-Man moved from fifteenth place last week to third place this week with a 57 percent boost in week-on-week sales. PlayStation VR Worlds has seen its sales nearly triple, landing in tenth place this week.

The top 40 saw two new entries this week, Nintendo 3DS exclusive Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth, which debuted in eighteenth place, and MotoGP 19, which debuted in twentieth.
