Microsoft have announced an Xbox One console bundle that comes packaged with Fortnite.
Fortnite is one of the most popular games today, if not the most popular. The game combines the battle royale genre that gained traction first in H1Z1, then in PUBG, with base building mechanics. Currently the game’s developer, Epic Games, is gearing up for the launch of Fortnite Season 6, which will add more new content to the title for players to unlock by playing matches.
Until now Fortnite has only been available as a bundle with an Xbox One console through packages offered by individual retailers. Now however Microsoft have officially created a bundle that packages Fortnite as a downloadable game via a download form, and an Xbox One.
The Xbox One that comes as part of the bundle is an Xbox One S with a 1TB hard drive, including one wireless Xbox One controller. Fortnite is included in the form of a download card, and gives customers the core game, the full Eon cosmetic set, including a Legendary Eon Character Outfit, Rare Resonator Pickaxe, and Epic Aurora Glider. Finally the bundle also contains 2,000 V-Bucks, in-game currency for use in Fortnite, which will allow players to purchase a Battle Pass for one season, which provides a boost to experience and offers additional in-game rewards.
The new bundle will also include a one month trial for both Xbox Live Gold, the premium subscription service for Xbox, and Xbox Games Pass. With Xbox Games Pass customers will be able to access a library of titles without purchasing them, including brand new Xbox exclusives for a limited time after release.
The new Xbox One S Fortnite Bundle launches in October for £249.99. This is the same price as the console on its own, which is fair considering that Fortnite is a free-to-play game, but also includes in-game currency that is usually paid for with microtransactions.
The marketing for the bundle tells players that they’ll be able to play against friends and carry progress over through Nintendo Switch, PC, iOS, and Mac. While Sony currently don’t offer cross-play with Fortnite for any devices other home consoles, it seems as though they’re now beginning to implement it in the future.
