Battlefield 2042 beta release date revealed

It’s been claimed that the release date for the Battlefield 2042 beta has been revealed. The date is allegedly going to be September 22, 2021, putting the beta’s release a full month ahead of the main game’s launch on October 22, 2021.

A credible leaker named Tom Henderson and Jeff Grubb, a journalist with GamesBeat, have both shared the information. Henderson shared it first and it was corroborated by Grubb in a Giant Bomb podcast. Grubb actually says that it was Henderson who told him the information.

An Italian retailer listed the beta as starting next week, however, this information debunks that claim. Whether there are two betas, a closed one and an open one, remains to be seen. There have already been early playtests with select individuals earlier in the year.

Indeed, EA has confirmed that the beta will be live in September and that anyone who pre-orders the game will get early access to that beta. This is generally the case with big shooters, so it makes sense.

In addition, Grubb went into detail about the game’s Hazard Zone mode, which sounds as if it will work similarly to Escape From Tarkov’s. Grubb said that this mode pits teams of players against one another while they fight it out to collect mission intel around the map. Of course, there will be AI opponents as well.

The mission parameters are randomized, and each player only has one life. If you die, you’re out of the match permanently. The world will produce hazards that players have to work against such as dynamic weather in the form of storms and tornadoes, and other massive events.

In Escape From Tarkov, players are assigned an extraction point which they need to reach with loot if they want to win. However, it seems like there will be bonus extraction points in Battlefield 2042, allowing players to gain bonus points while fighting against AI opponents that are trying to stop them at all times.

Battlefield 2042 is set to be a huge revolution for the series, and could change the way we look at shooters in general.
