In both New Zealand and Australia, Cyberpunk 2077 has topped the weekly sales charts. This is no surprise given how much anticipation there has been around the release. However, over the next week or so these sales could drop off given the game’s bugs and other issues.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War drops to second place in both charts. The game is still hugely popular, and with the imminent launch of its first season of content, that popularity is sure to rise over the next month or so.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla sits in third in Australia, and fifth in New Zealand. The game has a winter event coming up, so it should see steady sales leading up to that as fans invest early so that they can join in.
FIFA 21 is in fourth in Australia, but third in New Zealand. The game is only down by three places in each region. Promotional sales will have dropped off now, and this could be where the game sits in the charts for the next year or so.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is up two places in New Zealand in fourth, and has re-entered the Australian chart in sixth. This could be due to the launch of the standalone version of Red Dead Redemption Online. Many more players will want to get into the game, and it’s so cheap now that it’s worth buying the full release.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales is in fifth in Australia and sixth in New Zealand. The game shows no signs of dropping out of the chart, and could be a staple well into 2021.
Ubisoft’s newest release, Immortals: Fenyx Rising, is in seventh in New Zealand, but has dropped out of Australia’s chart entirely. NBA 2K21 on the other hand, is in ninth place in both charts.
The lack of Nintendo Switch games in New Zealand has made space for Grand Theft Auto 5 in eighth and EA Sports UFC 4 in tenth. These games will be cheap in the lead up to Christmas, which is almost certainly why consumers are picking them up now.
In Australia, Just Dance 2021 is in seventh. The game isn’t exclusively for Switch, but it seems to be selling best on the Switch. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is in eighth, down two places from last week, and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity re-enters the chart in tenth this week.
