After seven years in development Team Sonic Racing finally released last week to rave reviews from critics and payers. As a result the game outpaced the competition in the UK physical charts to claim the top spot. The title sold best for Playstation 4 but sold nearly as well on the Nintendo Switch.
Team Sonic Racing topped the All Formats Chart with sales more than double that of the last Sonic racing title; Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, which released in 2012. Team Sonic Racing is also the first Sonic game to top the UK physical chart since Mario & Sonic at the Olympics, which was an incredibly popular title for the Nintendo Wii in 2008 and later the Nintendo DS.
The only other brand new release for last week was Everybody’s Golf VR for Playstation 4. The game debuted in twenty-second place in the chart.
Assassin’s Creed 3 Remastered saw a port release for Nintendo Switch last week, pushing the game up to fifteenth position in the chart. The game had previously released for Playstation 4 and Xbox One earlier in the year.
Rage 2 slid from first place down to fourth this week with a drop in sales of 73 percent week-on-week. Days Gone and FIFA 19 saw smaller declines in week-on-week sales, and have therefore retained their positions of second and third in the chart for the past week.
Metro Exodus saw the second week of growth in a row last week. Sales were up by 49 percent week-on-week for this week’s chart, and 159 percent week-on-week for the weekly chart prior to that. As a result the game now sits in sixteenth place in the UK physical chart.
Similarly to Metro Exodus, Just Cause 4 has seen a recent increase in week-on-week sales for the last three weeks in a row. This could be due to the newly announced free DLC coming to the title, adding even more content to an already content-heavy game. Just Cause 4 now sits in twenty-first place in the chart.
