Starcraft remastered announced

Starcraft Remastered

This week Activision Blizzard announced that Starcraft, a sci-fi real time strategy game and one of Blizzard’s older titles, is being remastered.

Starcraft was a very popular RTS game that influenced a generation of gamers and game developers alike. Fans have been Tweeting Activision Blizzard with their fond memories of being introduced to the game by their parents in the late nineties. The game’s sequel is still heavily played by fans and as a competitive eSport.

Activision Blizzard is enhancing the buildings, units, and environments, as well as broadening supported resolutions to allow as many people as possible to play and enjoy the game to its fullest. The game audio is being reworked, and the illustrated interludes that play between missions are being remastered to bring the conflict to life in a never before seen way. However, Activision Blizzard are very clear when they say they have not changed the gameplay at all, meaning it’s still as good as fans remember.

Players take on the role of one of three distinct races in Starcraft. The Terran are colonists, originally from Earth, who are generations down the line of planetary colonisation. Terran’s will be surviving the explosive first contact with the game’s two other main races, the Protoss and the Zerg.

The Protoss have risen to physical and technological perfection in their banishment to the cold recesses of space. However, playing as them the player will discover a rebellion rising up against the harmony that has served them so well for so long, on a Zerg-infested planet.

Finally, the Zerg have made their way to a sparse sector of the galaxy, only to find themselves at odds with the Terran and Protoss. The Zerg are an insect like race who’s swarms infest entire planets. While they possess a higher intelligence within their ranks, it seems as though something else is going on behind the scenes.

No word on a release date has been confirmed as of yet. StarCraft: Remastered is coming on PC, most probably this summer. With E3 2017 coming soon we could have that date in a mere few months. The official website for the remaster shows some remastered gameplay, but a full demonstration is what is needed to excite fans.
