Even though sales have taken a 30 percent dive week-on-week God of War has retained the number one spot in the UK boxed sales chart for a fourth week in a row.
With this fourth week under its belt God of War has now become the Sony title with the most weeks in the number one spot in the UK physical sales chart. The previous record holder, The Last of Us: Remastered, only had three weeks at the top consecutively, though God of War arguably has less competition. However, God of War is still the second biggest game to launch in 2018 alongside Far Cry 5.
If God of War holds onto the top spot in the UK physical sales chart for another three weeks it will be more successful than The Last of Us for Playstation 3, which held the same spot for six consecutive weeks. It will be hard for God of War to achieve this with some stiff competition releasing soon; Detroit: Become Human, Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition, and Dark Souls Remastered.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze also saw a drop in sales this week, by 32 percent. However it has still managed to maintain second place in the UK physical sales charts, though again this has something to do with lack of competition in the last week.
After reaching the top ten last week the Nintendo Labo Variety Pack has fallen to twenty-seventh place in the physical charts this week, and the Robot Pack has fallen out of the top forty altogether, though it retains fourteenth position in the Switch only chart.
The only new entry in the physical chart this week was Conan Exiles from Deep Silver, which has entered at thirteenth place in the chart.
Grand Theft Auto 5 has seen a sales increase of 7 percent week-on-week, meaning it’s re-entered the top ten at ninth place this week. Assassin’s Creed: Origins however has seen even more of a spike, 75 percent, and is in eighth place currently.
Thanks to the release of its second Expansion, Warmind, Destiny 2 has risen once again to the top ten, but only just in tenth place. Overall physical sales saw a 36 percent increase week-on-week.
