Slightly Mad Studios is a developer of video games based in the United Kingdom. The studio was founded in 2008. In September 2009, it acquired Blimey! Games and developed Need for Speed: Shift for release by Electronic Arts. Slightly Mad Studios has experimented in the community developing and publishing a game without much funding from a traditional publisher. Project Cars co-published with Namco Bandai was largely developed and published with community-based funding, a process named “World of Mass Development” or WMD.
In 2019, Slightly Mad Studios was acquired by Codemasters, who in turn, was acquired by Electronic Arts in 2021.
