In a week of poor retail sales for the UK, NBA 2K20 has topped the UK sales charts despite it being a US sports game. NBA 2K20 debuted three places higher than NBA 2K19 did last year, but sales are a third lower year-on-year.
Spyro Reignited Trilogy returned to the chart in second place this week thanks to the game’s launch for Nintendo Switch. The new version accounted for 92 percent of the game’s overall sales for the past week. While the Nintendo Switch feels like a much more natural home for Spyro, the game’s sales were only 10 percent of what they were when it originally launched for PlayStation 4, and 28 percent of what it sold for Xbox One at the same time.
Four new games entered the chart last week, including Astral Chain, a Nintendo Switch exclusive from PlatinumGames, Wreckfest from THQ Nordic, The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan from Bandai Namco, and Control from 505 Games.
Three of these titles have seen a large drop in sales over the last week, with Astral Chain falling from first in the chart to eleventh with a week-on-week sales fall of 73 percent. Wreckfest dropped from second to tenth place with a fall in sales of 70 percent week-on-week, and Control dropped from third to fourteenth place with week-on-week sales falling by 76 percent. The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan however, has stuck in third place this week despite a drop in sales week-on-week of 53 percent.
This week saw three more new games enter the chart. The first is Catherine: Full Body for Playstation 4, which debuts in ninth place in the chart. Second is the Iceborne expansion for Monster Hunter World, debuting in twentieth place. Finally we have Batman Arkham Collection, which enters the chart in thirty-ninth place this week.
