The highly anticipated big budget Playstation VR title, Blood & Truth, has claimed the top spot in the UK physical sales chart as the best-selling retail game for the week.
In physical retail sales only Blood & Truth beat FIFA 19 for the top spot by 400 copies. FIFA 19 saw a sales boost this week which is thought to be fuelled by the Champions-League Finals, but even with this boost it didn’t quite outsell Blood & Truth.
This week is the first time that a VR game has topped the UK physical sales chart. Already Blood & Truth looks to be the second big hit from Sony’s London Studio, the first of which was Playstation VR Worlds. However, Blood & Truth is becoming a hit on its own merit, while Playstation VR Worlds is packaged with every Playstation VR Headset, making it the best-selling VR game in the UK.
Team Sonic Racing, which topped the chart last week, saw a drop in sales of 46 percent week-on-week, falling to third place this week. The game was well-received by critics and fans, and is the positive result Sega needed it to be just at the right time.
This week’s chart was tighter than usual, with 6,000 copies separating the game in first from the game in fortieth place.
Cricket 19: Official Game of the Ashes debuted in sixth place in this week’s charts. The title, developed by Big Ants Studios, sold best on PlayStation 4, accounting for 60 percent of all sales, while Xbox One saw 32 percent of all sales, and Nintendo Switch picking up the remainder.
Little Friends: Cats & Dogs for Nintendo Switch was another new release for last week, debuting in twenty-fourth position. The game was published by Sold Out and has been designed to tap into the segment of the market that is eager for a new Nintendogs title. With support ending for the Nintendo 3DS family, this is the best that Nintendogs fans can hope for.
