Major releases in the first week of December 2018

Super Smash Bros Ultimate (Nintendo Switch)

Super Smash Bros Ultimate is the first Super Smash Bros game to release for Nintendo Switch, and releases on the 7th of December. The game has the largest roster of characters ever seen in the series, and has brought about the launch of a number of new Amiibos as a result. Several versions of Super Smash Bros Ultimate are available, with the standard edition available for pre-order at £49.99.

A Gamecube Controller Edition of the game, which comes with a Nintendo Switch-compatible Gamecube Controller, can be pre-ordered for £79.99. This edition can come in many forms, each with a different version of the Gamecube Controller.

The Limited Edition of Super Smash Bros Ultimate comes with the base game, a Gamecube Controller, and a Gamecube Controller Adapter, which allows up to 4 players with Gamecube Controllers to all use them at the same time.

Sony Playstation Classic Console

Sony’s entry into the classic console market has begun with a scaled down version of the original Playstation console, which releases on Monday the 3rd of December and costs £89.99. The console brings classic Playstation games to hardware that will work seamlessly with current televisions and monitors.

Unfortunately Sony say there is no way to download more classic games to the console, and they have no plans to develop a way to do so. However, the fact that these games can be played on a modern monitor should more than make up for the fact that more of them aren’t packaged with the console.

The console comes with two controllers, a HDMI cable, and a USB cable for charging the controllers. The unit is also pre-loaded with 20 classic Playstation games: Cool Boarders 2, Battle Arena Toshinden, Final Fantasy 7, Destruction Derby, Intelligent Qube, Grand Theft Auto, Metal Gear Solid, Mr Driller, Jumping Flash, Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee, Resident Evil: Director’s Cut, Rayman, Ridge Racer Type 4, Revelations: Persona, Syphon Filter, Tekken 3, Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo, Twisted Metal, Wild Arms, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six.

PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS (PS4)

PUBG (PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS) has been available on PC and Xbox One for quite a while, but it’s been sorely lacking on Playstation 4. In PUBG 100 players are dropped into one of a few maps with nothing, and must fight to the death against each other by finding weapons and armour around the map, whilst avoiding environmental dangers and staying inside of the ever-closing safe zone.

Now however, the game is set to release for Playstation 4 on the 7th of December. The base game can be pre-ordered for £24.99 and comes with a Nathan Drake Desert Outfit Skin and Ellie’s Backpack bonuses.

PUBG can also be pre-ordered on the Playstation Store in different versions. The Looter’s digital Edition costs £24.99 and is simply the digital edition of the standard edition. The Survivor’s Edition costs £39.99, bringing a Survival Pass for Vikendi, 2,300 G-coins, and 20,000 BP as well. Finally the Champion’s Digital Edition costs £49.99, and comes with the survival pass for Vikendi, 6,000 G-coins, and 20,000 BP.

SEGA Megadrive Classics (Nintendo Switch Edition)

SEGA Megadrive originally launched for Playstation 4 and Xbox One in 2010. Now the collection of more than 50 classic games from the SEGA Megadrive is making its way to the Nintendo Switch, launching on the 6th of December.

The collection of titles includes such brilliant releases as; Altered Beast, Flicky, Streets of Rage 2 and 3, Vectorman, Wonder Boy in Monster World, Galaxy force 2, and the Revenge of Shinobi.

The SEGA Megadrive Classics collection will cost £29.99 for Nintendo Switch owners, making it one of the best value for money games on the market.

Hello Neighbour: Hide and Seek

Hello Neighbour is a stealth action title in which players must break into their neighbour’s house and avoid detection whilst breaking into the basement. The challenge comes from completing a huge number of ridiculous tasks in order to get the key to the basement, climbing to the top of the house and all the way through what seems like a labyrinth of rooms, all whilst being as stealthy as possible.

Each time the player is caught the AI of the enemy learns what they did, and makes preparations to catch them again. This makes the game harder and harder as time goes on.

Hide and Seek is the latest DLC for Hello Neighbour. The DLC looks to explore what happened in the moments before Hello Neighbour began, a part of the game’s story that has never been revealed. These events revolve around the protagonist playing hide and seek with their brother.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice (Physical Edition)

The final big release of the week is the physical release of the critically acclaimed Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. The game revolves around the journey of Senua as she journey’s into the Viking underworld in search of her lost lover. The game explores mental illness in a completely unique way, one which has resulted in the game being praised by those who suffer from mental illnesses.

Hellblade also features some of the best music and graphics in any game of the past year, making it an unmissable experience. The physical edition of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice will launch on the 4th of December, and costs £24.99.
