Sony Interactive Entertainment announced the PlayStation Awards 2017 winners for the region of Japan and Asia. The show is an annual event that rewards PlayStation titles based on the sales performance.
A Double Platinum Prize was awarded to Minecraft PlayStation 4. PlayStation Vita, and PlayStation 3 Edition from Mojang/SIE. The games have sold over 2 million copies across physical shipments as well as digital downloads across all three platforms.
The Platinum Prize was awarded to Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age from Orca and Square Enix, Final Fantasy 15 from Square Enix, and Grand Theft Auto 5 from Rockstar North and Rockstar Games. Thes titles have each sold over 1 million copies from a combination of physical and digital sales.
Gold Prizes were awarded to titles that sold over 500,000 copies both physically and digitally via download. The games that received this award were; Battlefield 1 from DICE and EA, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare from Activision, SIE, and Infinity Ward, FIFA 2017 and 2018 from EA and EA Canada, Horizon: Zero Dawn from Guerrilla Games and SIE, NieR: Automata from Platinum Games and Square Enix, Nioh from Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo, Rainbow Six: Siege from Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard from Capcom, Uncharted the Nathan Drake Collection from Naughty Dog and SIE, and finally Yakuza 6: The Song of Life from Ryu ga Gotoku and Sega Games.
A PlayStation Network Award was given to the games that were the top three titles in terms of PSN sales between October 1st 2016 and September 30th 2017. The games awarded were FIFA 2017 from EA Canada and EA, Phantasy Star Online 2 from Sega Games, and Rainbow Six: Siege from Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft.
A User Choice Prize was given to the top ten games as voted for by Japan and Asia users, all of which were released between October 1st 2016 and September 30th 2017. The titles nominated were; Battlefield 1 from DICE and EA, Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age from Orca and Square Enix, Final Fantasy 15 from Square Enix, Horizon: Zero Dawn from Guerrilla Games and SIE, NieR: Automata from Platinum Games and Square Enix, Nioh from Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo, Persona 5 from Atlus, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard from Capcom, Uncharted The Lost Legacy from Naughty Dog and SIE, and Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana from Falcom.
A PlayStation VR Special Award was given to the top three titles that contributed to PlayStation VR, released between October 1st 2016 and September 2017 and excluding last year’s winners. The titles awarded were; Far Point from Impulse and SIE, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard from Capcom, and Summer Lesson: Alison Snow from Bandai Namco Entertainment.
Finally, an Indie & Developer Award were given to 3on3 FreeStyle from JoyCity Games, Touhou Genso Wanderer: Reloaded from Aqua Style, and Undertale from Toby Fox.
