Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition Tops US Weekly Sales Chart

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition was a brand new release for the Nintendo Switch last week, and it topped the US weekly sales chart. The game has finally managed to push Animal Crossing: New Horizons down into second place, a feat that no game has been able to perform for some weeks now.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has managed to stick it out in the top three at least, even though the game saw a 42 percent drop in sales week-on-week. Whether it manages to hold onto second place for another week is questionable, sales have been consistently dropping for a few weeks now, so this could be the start of its slow decline out of the top ten.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is holding on in third place this week, having slipped down from second due to the launch of Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition. The game saw a drop in sales of 12 percent week-on-week.

NBA 2K20 sits unmoving in fourth this week, while Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has moved up to fifth from seventh place thanks to a boost in sales of 24 percent. This shows that Nintendo Switch stock must be in better supply than it has been for the past two weeks, since the game is bundled with most Switch hardware packages.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has shot up from tenth to sixth this week. The game currently has a good discount offer on a retail level. This pushes MLB The Show 20 down to seventh this week.

Saints Row: The Third Remastered has dropped from third to eight this week with a 48 percent decrease in week-on-week sales. The game only recently launched, but now sales seem to be tapering off as you’d expect.

Luigi’s Mansion 3 has moved down one place to ninth this week with a drop in sales of 18 percent week-on-week. The game comes packaged with some Nintendo Switch bundles, but not as many as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. It’s possible that Nintendo is shipping more Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundles because new Switch owners prefer that game over Luigi’s Mansion 3.

Finally, Grand Theft Auto 5 ends the chart in tenth place this week. The game saw a brief boost thanks to a promotion on the Epic Games Store, but that has now ended, as is reflected in this chart.

2K Games launched both Borderlands Legendary Collection and BioShock The Collection for Nintendo Switch the week prior to this chart’s data. Unfortunately for them, neither of the games have made it into the top ten, while Xcom 2 Collection couldn’t because it’s a digital-only release.
