U.S. best selling video games: Week of August 24, 2019

Madden NFL 20

Madden NFL 20 continues to hold the top of the US physical games wholesale chart for the 4th consecutive week, ending on August 24, 2019.

The only major release this week was Konami’s Yu Gi Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution, which despite a very quiet week was only able to take the 8th place in the top 10 chart. The game has already released in Japan earlier this year, on April 25, and only now it has reached North America and Europe.

Minecraft holds the second place of the top ten chart, performing very well, across several platforms, with the strongest sales on Nintendo Switch at this moment. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe had a surprise boost in sales, 16 months after its release. It even took the top of the UK physical charts this week.

Crash Team Racing is still doing well, even though it had a decrease of 12% in sales this week, taking the 4th place of the chart. Another Nintendo title, Super Mario Maker 2 also holds strong sales, with only a slight decrease of 6% in sales this week. Mortal Kombat 11 had a huge boost in sales ahead of the release of a new DLC, which will include The Terminator, Spawn, Sindel, and The Joker to the game. An almost threefold increase in sales this week returned Mortal Kombat 11 to the top ten chart, placing it in the 6th position.

Two Rockstar titles, Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 are doing very well, as usual, traditionally holding in the top ten chart. GTA 5’s online casino expansion has significantly boosted the game’s sales.
