The long expected EA Game’s new title, Star Wars: Battlefront released last week, and immediately popped on the top of the best selling wholesale video games chart, pushing last week’s favourite, Fallout 4 to the second position. Star Wars: Battlefront has sold 117% more on its first week than the previous best ‘Star Wars: The Force Unleashed’. It is the 4th largest launch of any game in 2015, only behind of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, Fallout 4, and Fifa 16 on their first week after release. Star Wars: Battlefront is a reboot game, not sequel, and as such, it is the best selling non-sequel game, even better than another Sony title, Destiny.
Fallout 4 is still at number two, although it sold significantly less last week than at the start. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, showing more stable results, is at the third position, and Rise of Tomb Raider is still enjoying high sales only a short period after its release, is at fourth position. Fifa 16 sales is starting to pick up again approaching to Christmas, putting it at number five position and rising. Forecast for Christmas week? Of course it will be (1) Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, (2) Fifa 16, and (3) Fallout 4. We will check this in a month.
The rest of the wholesale chart is nothing unusual. With recent Sega’s release, Football Manager 2016, which is usually not a quite good wholesale seller because of its regional restrictions, the latest Minecraft, Assassin Creed, GTA 5, and Need for Speed occupy the rest of the table.
