Week ending on February 10, 2018, the UK’s Top 10 chart of the best selling retail and wholesale video games, Shadow of the Colossus for PS4 has released and took the top of the charts. EA Sport’s UFC 3, which released last week, kept the second place of the chart. Monster Hunter World was pushed to the third position.

The Shadow of the Colossus Remake which released on February 6th has topped the UK games sales chart, selling more than the original did on Playstation 2.

Shadow of the Colossus Remake for Playstation 4 has dethroned Monster Hunter World in the UK games sales chart, placing first. The game outsold the original Playstation 2 version by 73 percent, which released in February 2006. Not only is Shadow of the Colossus a beloved game for many but it has released at a point in the year when not many other titles are launching, aiding its success.

EA Sports UFC 3 is in second place in the chart. The game was reviewed well but critics faulted it for not innovating as much as the second title did on the first. The problem, some say, is that EA Sports UFC 2 is such a great game that UFC 3 doesn’t look as impressive by comparison.

Monster Hunter World is still holding onto a top 3 position in third. Capcom confirmed last week that the title has risen to become the fastest-selling game in the company’s history. With anticipation gowing for the upcoming spring update that game is showing no signs of losing momentum.

FIFA 18 and Grand Theft Auto 5 make up the rest of the chart respectively. Grand Theft Auto 5 continues to sell well thanks to the continued support for Grand Theft Auto Online, the game’s online element, which is still held in high regard by Take-Two Interactive.

Call of Duty: WW2 is in sixth, maintaining strong sales thanks to the release of the first DLC map pack this month. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Edition and Super Mario Odyssey make up seventh and eighth places respectively. A recent interview with Odyssey’s producer, Yoshiaki Koizumi, sparked interest in the franchise last week after he confirmed, among other things, that Toad’s head is in fact not a hat.

Assassin’s Creed Origins is still in the top ten in ninth position, showing one of the strongest performances for a game in the series for a while. Finally The Evil Within 2 is in tenth place thanks to some retailer-led promotions, which also allowed Overwatch to re-enter the chart at thirteenth position. Dragon Quest Builders for Nintendo Switch has managed to secure a position further down the chart and is one of the few new entries in the chart.
