Week ending on April 28, 2018, the UK’s Top 10 chart of the best selling retail and wholesale video games, Sony’s God of War for PS4 keeps the top of the charts. Ubisoft’s Far Cry 5 remains on the second position. Nintendo’s Labo Toys has released and took the third position of the charts.

God of War has retained the top position in the UK physical sales chart for the second week in a row. The game received almost all perfect review scores and is already a contender for many as Game of the Year. So far God of War has only seen a 35 percent drop in sales week-on-week, which is outstanding for a single player game in its second week.

Yakuza 6: Song of Life on the other hand dropped to thirty-ninth place, falling a total of thirty-six places from third position last week. This is a drop in sales of 85 percent week-on-week, though because this is not only a single player game, but also a niche Japanese title, it’s not surprising to see this kind of drop.

Far Cry 5 has held strong in second position for another week. The game is receiving a number of updates as the weeks go on, bolstering the content and providing the community with something to keep them coming back. The new Far Cry Arcade mode must also have something to do with the strong sales, as the community continue to create new content for others to enjoy.

Nintendo Labo made it into two positions this week, with the Variety Pack entering at third position. The Robot Pack has come in at twentieth place, not nearly as popular. Overall Nintendo Labo seems to have been met with a warm reception, but the number of people investing in the new accessories are fewer than expected. It’s likely that Nintendo Labo will see more sales as time goes on, presenting Nintendo with an opportunity for long-term investment.

Other Nintendo titles have seen increases in sales. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Edition saw a week-on-week increase in sales of 6 percent, and Super Mario Odyssey a 17 percent increase. Splatoon 2 unit sales have increased by 8 percent, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild by 6 percent. Switch boxed game sales as a whole saw an increase of 61 percent in total compared to last week.

Also on Nintendo Switch is South Park: The Fractured But Whole, which only released last week. The game is now in nineteenth position, with an 848 percent increase in sales week-on-week.
