Sony has announced the release date for Ghost of Tsushima, as well as the various editions that are now available for pre-order.
The game, from developer Sucker Punch Productions, will launch on June 26, 2020 around the world. Alongside the release date announcement came a brand new trailer, one that focuses more on the story.
Until now we’ve had very few details on Ghost of Tsushima, leading some to believe that the game may not even be released this year. However, the game now looks to be one of Sony’s stars for PlayStation 4 for 2020.
The game will follow Jin Sakai, a samurai warrior. While he is still young, Jin begins to adopt new tactics that lead him away from his uncle’s strict teachings, eventually making him abandon them completely in order to become The Ghost.
Three editions of the game have been revealed for consumers to pre-order. The first of these is the Digital Deluxe Edition. This includes a digital version of the game, a digital mini artbook by Dark Horse, a Samurai dynamic theme for PlayStation 4, the digital Director’s Commentary, an in-game Technique Point, and Charm of Hachiman’s Favour, a digital mini soundtrack, a Jin Avatar, and the Hero of Tsushima skin set for use in the game. This edition costs $69.99.
The Special Edition is the first of the physical editions on offer. This includes the game, with a steelbook case, a digital mini artbook, Director’s Commentary, Jin Avatar, dynamic PlayStation 4 theme, the Hero of Tsushima skin set, and in-game bonus items from the Digital Deluxe Edition. This edition costs $69.99 as well.
The third edition of the game that’s available for pre-order is the Collector’s Edition. This edition contains all the additional extras from both the Special Edition and the Digital Deluxe Edition. It also includes a Cloth Map of Tsushima, a Sashimono War Banner, A Saki Mask with stand, and a collector’s box. This edition is the most expensive at $169.99.
Ghost of Tsushima is expected to be yet another phenomenal PlayStation 4 exclusive. With a release date so close to the current launch date of the PlayStation 5, there’s every chance it will also be one of the first games on Sony’s next-generation platform.
