Week ending on October 19, 2019, the UK’s Top 10 chart of the best selling retail and wholesale video games, FIFA 20 remains on top of the UK physical charts. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has climbed to the second position. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint has slipped to the third place.

Thanks in part to two new major releases, the Nintendo Switch has taken over the top ten best selling games chart in the UK. These stat encounters sales of only physical units, meaning that there could be many more sales through the Nintendo eShop for the same period.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for Nintendo Switch, more commonly known as The Switcher, debuted in fourth place in the chart. The title sold almost exactly the same number of copies as the Switch port of Skyrim did in the same period. Overall, sales for the game increased by 999 percent week-on-week thanks to this new version.

The best selling Nintendo Switch game for the week was in fact Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Edition, which moved from third to second due to a 10 percent boost in sales. It’s thought that a combination of the launch of the Nintendo Switch Lite, and the increasing popularity of Mario Kart Tour have led to more players purchasing the game.

While the recent Nintendo Switch success, The Legend of Zelda Link’s Awakening, fell to eighth this week, the brand new fitness title for the platform debuted in fifth. Ring Fit Adventure is a brand new fitness game that comes packaged with accessories designed to get players moving.

The Nintendo Switch version of Minecraft sticks in sixth place in the chart this week, while the Switch version of Overwatch just misses out on the top ten, debuting in eleventh. With the recent controversy surrounding Blizzard, it’s possible that sales of the port have been affected as players choose not to support the company given recent events. With that said, sales for Overwatch have still increased by 563 percent week-on-week.

FIFA 20 remains at the top of the chart for the fourth consecutive week. The game shows no signs of falling anytime soon, though with some major releases such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Death Stranding on the way, it’s only a matter of time.

The only other new releases of interest this week were Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville, which has been in early access for several weeks now. The title entered the chart in seventh place. Baldur’s Gate I & II Enhanced Edition on the other hand, entered the chart in thirty-fourth place.
