For the third week in a row EA’s FIFA 18 has topped the UK physical software sales chart, even with two new releases from last week hot on its heels.
The first of last week’s new releases, Middle-earth Shadow of War, has made it to second place in the sales chart. The sequel to the highly underrated Middle-earth Shadow of Mordor, Shadow of War continues to flesh out the story between The Hobbit and The Lord Of The Rings trilogy, implementing the unique nemesis system to make each playthrough feel unique. According to Gamindustry.biz FIFA 18 saw a 55% drop in sales, even so the game still sold 40% more copies than Middle-earth Shadow of War
The second new release from last week, and third in the chart, is The Evil Within 2. The game has been met with positive reviews and is a welcome reprieve for horror fans in search of something to quench their thirst after a summer of lackluster horror titles.
The Xbox exclusives Forza Motorsport 7 and Forza Horizon 3 have been pushed down by the new releases to fourth and fifth positions respectively. Destiny 2 is sitting in sixth position after its successful September launch, the game’s longevity is no doubt aided by the live events Bungie has been slowly releasing, such as Iron Banner last week.
Grand Theft Auto 5, despite being five years old at this point, is still holding onto a place in the top ten sales chart, currently sitting in seventh. Just behind is the Playstation 4 exclusive Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy in eighth, still selling strong despite only being available on one console. The only release of note outside of the top 10 chart is the Physical release of Friday the 13th debuted at fifteenth position.
