This week Detroit: Become Human became the 10th Playstation exclusive to reach the top of the UK sales charts since the beginning of 2017.
God of War was pushed down from the top number one of the sales chart, one week short of beating The Last Of Us on PlayStation 3 for longest number of weeks consecutively at number one.
It’s expected that including digital sales, which are excluded in this chart, Detroit: Become Human sold better than developer Quantic Dream’s last title, Beyond: Two Souls, which released in 2013. As it is the game physically sold at about the same level as the preceding title. Heavy Rain however, Quantic Dream’s release before Beyond: Two Souls, sold four times as well as Detroit: Become Human has in terms of physical box sales.
State of Decay 2, the Xbox One and PC exclusive zombie survival game, has secured second place in the chat this week. Under 4000 boxed sales separate it and Detroit: Become Human, but State of Decay 2 is also available on the Xbox Games Pass, which could lead to better sales in the future when the game leaves the subscription service and fans want to continue playing.
Another new release is in third place, Dark Souls Remastered. With the Nintendo Switch version delayed until later in the year it’s likely that the game will see a boost in sales further into 2018, but has suffered at launch because of it.
God of War has in fact dropped to fifth place in the chart, despite a 5 percent increase in week-on-week sales, with attention around FIFA 18 increasing, leading to a 59 percent increase in week-on-week sales. Even though FIFA 18 has also dropped in the chart, it’s secured fourth place.
Far Cry 5 saw an increase in sales of 59 percent week-on-week, but dropped one place to sixth, and Overwatch has risen to seventh place, a rise of thirty-three places, thanks to an anniversary promotion increasing sales by 710 percent. Sales of Destiny 2 rose by 96 percent, securing it eighth place, and Fallout 4 saw an increase of 66 percent in sales, rising to ninth place. Finally, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Edition is sitting in tenth place with an increase in sales of 11 percent.
