Week ending on June 22, 2019, the UK’s Top 10 chart of the best selling retail and wholesale video games, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled releases and takes the top of the physical chart. FIFA 19 pushed down to the second position, and Forza Horizon 4 takes the third place.

Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled, Activision’s latest remake of a beloved classic title, was the best-selling game in the UK at retail last week. The title sold almost eight times as many copies as FIFA 19 in the same period.

Crash Team Racing has debuted in first place in the best-selling games of the week chart, and has seen the second-highest sales in the first week than any other title in the Crash franchise history. The only title to sell better in week one was Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy.

Sales for Crash Team Racing were so high in fact, that the game has had the third best launch of 2019. Resident Evil 2 Remake had the best launch of the year, with Days Gone following close behind it. Two out of these three titles are remakes, showing how much influence nostalgia can have on sales.

Team Sonic Racing, Crash Team Racing’s biggest rival, was outsold by over four times as many units in week one. However, the split between platforms shows a clear difference in fan bases. Team Sonic Racing sold 40 percent of week one copies for PlayStation 4, while Crash Team Racing sold 66 percent of all copies sold in week one for Sony’s console. Nintendo Switch copies told a different story, with 39 percent of Team Sonic Racing’s week one sales enjoyed on the platform, and only 16 percent of Crash Team Racing’s.

Other than Crash Team Racing, there was only one new release that also made it into the top 40 this week. Bloodstained: ritual of the Night posted in 17th place for its first week on sale.

Many of the other top ten best-selling games this week are familiar, though they have seen some movement due to drops in week-on-week sales for most. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Edition saw a decrease in sales of 16 percent, but still rose to 8th place in the chart, and Days Gone saw a larger drop in sales of 64 percent, falling from 2nd to 4th.

The only title to see a rise in week-on-week sales was Tom Clancy’s the Division 2, which received a boost of 15 percent this week, and currently sits in 9th place in the chart.
