Call of Duty Mobile revealed

Activision has announced Call of Duty Mobil for Android and iOS. The game is a free-to-play multiplayer experience for smartphones and tablets, bringing the Call of Duty high-octane multiplayer experience to fingertips everywhere.

The game appears to be almost identical to Call of Duty: Legends of War, which soft-launched in alpha form in late 2018. While the game may have dropped extra part of its title it appears to still contain the core Call of Duty experience.

The trailer for the new title shows solid 60 FPS gameplay, impressive for a mobile title. The trailer also showed some of the classic shooter game modes players can expect to see in the game, including; Free For All, Team Deathmatch, and Frontline. The game even contains classic Call of Duty maps such as Nuketown and Crash, and classic character skins such as Captain Price and Ghost.

While the latest Call of Duty sensation, Blackout, hasn’t been announced as part of Call of Duty Mobile, the trailer did hint at more to come. Just after this tease was footage of an aircraft flying over a large map, hinting that a battle royale experience of some description will be coming to the game at some point.

The trailer ended with a note that anyone interested in the game can pre-register right now. This may provide some sort of in-game bonus when it eventually launches, but no details have been released for this as of yet.

Monetisation for Call of Duty Mobile hasn’t been touched upon right now either. In Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 players can purchase a Black Ops Pass, which gives them access to new maps and more through unlockable content as part of the pass. This is a similar system to that found in Fortnite, allowing players to access hundreds of new cosmetic items with the purchase of a pass for around £10.

It’s likely that Activision will go down the Black Ops Pass route with Call of Duty Mobile, particularly with games such as Apex Legends also choosing to go down this path with monetisation. This could lead to the game having seasons of content, each with a new theme full of various cosmetic content items to earn.
