Assassin’s Creed Origins tops charts in Australia and New Zealand

Assassin Creed Origins

After a massive week for new releases the numbers for physical games sales are in, and the top sales charts in Australia and New Zealand have completely changed. With three highly anticipated games launching on the same day, Super Mario Odyssey, Assassin’s Creed: Origins, and Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, there’s a fight to be the game that sold best.

In both countries Assassin’s Creed: Origins topped the chart with Super Mario Odyssey sitting behind it in second place. Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus made it to fourth position in Australia, just behind Destiny 2, and fifth position in New Zealand behind FIFA 18 and NBA 2K18.

Gran Turismo Sport continues to perform well in both countries despite being a far cry from what fans expected of a new release in the series. Currently the game is sitting in fifth position in Australia and seventh in New Zealand between Destiny 2 in sixth and South Park: The Fractured But Whole in eighth.

The second half of the charts vary a lot between countries. In Australia South Park: The Fractured But Whole is performing better than in New Zealand netting it seventh position.

Sports titles seem to be performing better in New Zealand, with FIFA 18 and NBA 2K18 in third and fourth respectively. In the Australian chart FIFA 18 sits further down the chart in sixth place, between Gran Turismo: Sport and South Park: The Fractured But Whole, with NBA 2K18 just behind that in eighth.

In Australia the bottom of the chart is filled up by Middle-Earth: Shadow of War in ninth and Grand Theft Auto 5 in tenth. In New Zealand Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Trilogy sits in ninth, no doubt due to the recent release of Assassin’s Creed: Origins, and Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy continues to hold on in tenth.

On platform specific charts Assassin’s Creed: Origins dominates over Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, apart from on PC where Destiny 2 holds the top of the chart just ahead of the new Wolfenstein title across both countries. On Nintendo Switch, as expected, Super Mario Odyssey has the top position in the chart, followed by another Mario game in second, Mario & Rabbids: Kingdom Battle.
