Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled managed to rise back up to the top position in the UK physical sales chart this week. The game saw a drop in sales week-on-week of 14 percent, but due to there being no new releases in the top 40 it actually got ahead of the competition.
Two games made it into the top 10 chart this week, having previously fallen lower down in the top 40. F1 2019 rose from eleventh to sixth place, a decent jump that puts it ahead of last week’s number one, Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Red Dead Redemption 2 also rose week-on-week, moving from fifteenth last week to eighth this week, just nudging ahead of Minecraft.
Minecraft continues to benefit from an increase in popularity, placing in ninth, as YouTubers and streamers return to it. The game appears to be experiencing a renaissance of sorts as those who grew up playing the game revisit it for a hit of nostalgia, and to enjoy the game’s new features that have been added over the years.
Grand Theft Auto 5 rose from sixth to fifth week-on-week. The game’s latest update, which adds gambing to for the first time, has been met with a wide range of responses around the world. While some players enjoy all of the new content, gambling and all, certain countries have banned the gambling aspects of the update.
While Fire Emblem: Three Houses has dropped from the top of the chart to seventh place, the game is still performing well as a Nintendo Switch exclusive. Players and critics couldn’t speak more highly of the title’s gameplay and story, not to mention the potential for expansion over the next year or so.
Super Mario Maker 2 rose from fourth place to second this week, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe rose from seventh to third. This makes two of the top three games in the chart Nintendo Switch exclusives, which indicates a longevity that other titles lack in this period of few, if any, new releases.
