Week ending on April 27, 2019, the UK’s Top 10 chart of the best selling retail and wholesale video games, Days Gone has released and took the top of the charts. Another big new release, Mortal Kombat 11 took the second position. FIFA 19 was pushed down by one position to the third place.

Launch sales for Sony’s latest Playstation 4 exclusive title, Days Gone, were down on last year’s exclusive, God of War, by 27 percent. However, considering that Days Gone is a brand new IP the sales figures are quite impressive.

While God of War recieved many perfect review scores last year, Days Gone has seen a much more mixed reception. Some press outlets have hammered the game for its combination of mechanics from a number of other titles, while others have praised it for the seamless introduction of those same mechanics.

With Days Gone taking the top spot the other big release for last week, Mortal Kombat 11, took second place in the chart. The game’s performance was down by 43.6 percent on the previous title, Mortal Kombat X, which launched in 2015. However, compared to 2017’s Injustice: Gods Among Us 2, sales were up slightly. A caveat to these figures is that digital sales aren’t included, and it could be that with those take into account the game sold much better than it appears on a retail level.

71 percent of all copies of Mortal Kombat 11 sold were for Playstation 4.

Last week’s top game, World War Z, has been pushed down by this week’s top two titles, though a drop in sales of 70 percent week-on-week mean that it now sits in tenth place in the chart.

Red Dead Redemption 2 saw a 4 percent increase in sales week-on-week, moving up to fourth place from fifth last week. Forza Horizon 4 saw a 1 percent increase in week-on-week sales, but that was enough to boost it to sixteenth place in the chart. Finally Metro Exodus saw a 130 percent increase in week-on-week sales, meaning it re-entered the top 40 chart in thirteenth place.
