A new trailer from Ubisoft has announced that Far Cry 5 Lost On Mars will launch next week. The game is the second piece of DLC for Far Cry 5 and takes players to yet another new location to explore, and story to complete.
The story for Lost On Mars follows Nick Rye, a friend of the Far Cry franchise’s staple character Hurk. Both characters are transported to Mars in order to stop an alien invasion that’s threatening Earth. New weapons will be handed to players with this DLC, including the Blaster of Disaster, Morphinator, and Hellfire. A new way of traversing the world is also being introduced with Lost On Mars, Space Jets. This new form of transport should fit the world and its themes perfectly, adding to the epic setting of destroying aliens as a gun for hire.
The DLC doesn’t just add this new story however. New Mars-themed assets will be added to the Far Cry Arcade for players to use when creating new maps for others to explore and complete. This should add an entirely new feel to Far Cry Arcade and reignite the player interest in searching for new maps to complete.
Dead Living Zombies, the final piece of DLC that comes as part of the initial Far Cry 5 season pass, has been confirmed as launching in August. This DLC will focus on a post-apocalyptic world filled with zombies, putting the Far Cry 5 spin on what o many other games have been using as a core concept for years.
The first piece of DLC, Far Cry 5 Hours of Darkness, launched to a poor reception from players and critics. The DLC was criticised for having very little to do, and containing the same filler missions as the main game. A short campaign also didn’t help the DLC feel any fuller. Hopefully Far Cry 5 fans will receive something better in Lost On Mars, a more compelling and fun story with better side activities to complete, and a few more hours of gameplay would go a long way to repairing the damage done by Hours of Darkness.
