Madden NFL 20

August 2019 is when the industry starts to see some of the most anticipated games of 2019 so far rear their heads. The list below is of some of the biggest games that will hit shelves this month.

Madden NFL 20 – August 2, 2019
Launching for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 for retail price of £49.99. Madden NFL 20 is the biggest hit of the month. The game lets players be the face of the NFL franchise. Character progression begins with nothing, making players rise through the ranks, gaining new abilities and skills, to become the greatest NFL player in the world.

Astral Chain – August 30, 2019
A new synergetic action game from PlatnumGames, Astral Chain puts players in the role of two members of a special police task force. They must control both characters and master multiple fighting styles to defend their city against an alien menace. The game will be available in both a standard edition for £44.99, and Collector’s Edition for £69.99, both exclusively for Nintendo Switch.

Yi-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist – Link Evolution – August 20, 2019
Available for all major platforms at £34.99, the latest Yu-Gi-Oh! title brings back the beloved card game from the popular television series of the same name. Players will compete in battles against other real world opponents, as well as NPCs within the game from throughout the Yu-Gi-Oh! universe.

The Dark Pictures Anthology – Man of Medan – August 30, 2019
From the same studio that brought Until Dawn to gamers, The Dark Pictures Anthology – Man of Medan is another horror thriller title that forces players to make split second decisions in tense situations. To top off the thrilling gameplay, players can work with, or against, one another around the world, with even cooperative gameplay leading to the ultimate demise of a character. Man of Medan is available to pre-order for £24.99 on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Control – August 27, 2019
Having gone gold earlier this week, Control is set to be one of the biggest hit of the month. As a member of the Bureau of Control, players must contain a threat that bends both time and space using strange abilities and weapons, such as telekinesis. Control is available in a standard edition for £44.99, and a deluxe edition for 59.99, both for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Wreckfest – August 27, 2019
Wreckfest is available to pre-order for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in a standard edition for £34.99, or a deluxe edition for £54.99. The game comes from Bugbear, developers of Flatout 1 and 2, and centers around high-risk racing, in which your car could be completely destroyed.

Crystar – August 27, 2019
Crystar is coming to PlayStation 4, and promises to be very different from other games. Players take on the role of Rei, as they try to unlock more and more powers by interacting with, and crying at, objects in a strange new world.

Age of Wonders: Planetfall – August 6, 2019
Age of Wonders: Planetfall is available to pre-order for £41.99 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The game is a tactical turn-based sci-fi title, putting places in the role of the leader of a civilisation emerging from a cosmic dark age, exploring the remnants of a system long forgotten.

Terraria for Nintendo Switch – August 23, 2019
Terraria is finally coming to Switch for £24.99. The game has millions of fans around the world who still play each day, and with good reason. Terraria is constantly being updated with new content, allowing players to explore new areas of the world, craft new items, build new structures, and uncover new mysterious dungeons and bosses.

Snooker 19 for Nintendo Switch – August 23, 2019
Snooker 19 is coming to Nintendo Switch, priced at £34.99. The game is the official title for World Snooker, and touted as the most realistic snooker simulation game ever made.

Root Letter: Last Answer – August 30, 2019
Available for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch at £34.99, Root Letter: Last Answer marks the return of the best interactive mystery visual novel. Players must track down their pen pal, who died 15 years ago, by using letters they’ve written to each other.

Hunt: Showdown for Xbox One – August 27, 2019
The highly anticipated first-person bounty hunting game from the creators of Crysis, Hunt: Showdown puts players in the role of a hunter in a world where everything is out to kill them. Hunters can go it alone, or act as a duo, and attempt to survive the strange and dangerous world around them. Available to pre-order for £34.99.
