For its debut week, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening has managed to top the EMEAA charts despite being
a Nintendo Switch exclusive.
The retail sales of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening by themselves were enough to beat Borderlands 3, last week’s best-selling title, and push it down to the second place. Borderlands 3 is now in its second week of digital and physical sales reporting, making the reception the new Zelda title has received even more impressive.
Due to the high number of new releases hitting shelves lately, Grand Theft Auto 5 has been hovering in a lower position than normal for a while now. However, with launch sales levelling out into consistent ongoing sales for these new releases, the game has pushed its way back up to third place this week. The regular updates of the multiplayer element of the game, Grand Theft Auto Online, are also no doubt assisting in keeping the game’s sales where they are.
The second title from Rockstar Games in the top ten, Red Dead Redemption 2, has dropped one place to ninth this week, but it still selling well. The title saw some popularity over the last week or so with many players predicting the imminent release of a zombie DLC. Rockstar Games has confirmed that a single player DLC is not on the way, but said nothing of the online element, meaning zombies may be coming to the game after all.
Also a new release, eFootball PES 2020 managed to stay in the top five in fifth place for its second week on sale. Greedfall on the other hand, having placed in third last week, dropped to fourteenth place this week. Finally, NHL 20 dropped a few places from fifth to eighth, but is still holding onto a top ten position for now.
Rainbow Six Siege continues to see popularity through regular updates, and the budding esports scene surrounding it. The game has risen from seventeenth to sixth place this week.
Outside of the top ten, Steam discounts pushed other games with big sales boosts. Shadow of the Tomb Raider rose over 100 places to fifteenth, and Rise of the Tomb Raider more than 950 places all the way up to twenty-second place this week.
