Perfect World Entertainment renames to Gearbox Publishing

Perfect World Entertainment, a video game publisher from Chine has been renamed to Gearbox Publishing after a merger in 2021. Perfect World was founded in 2004 and is best known for developing such video game titles as Swordsman Online, Perfect World I and II, Jade Dynasty, Battle of the Immortals, and Final Fantasy Type-0 Online.

According to a blog post that was recently made public, the team and the project that they are currently working on will remain unchanged. Among these projects are such titles as Neverwinter, Star Trek Online, and Have a Nice Death.

Other titles that have been released under the brand of Perfect World Entertainment, such as Remnant: From The Ashes as well as the Torchlight franchise will be under the umbrella of Gearbox Publishing.

In a blog post, the company informed that it appreciates players enjoying their games and joining them on their journey to new horizons. The post continues to explain that the new partnership means bigger and better things and the company can’t wait to show everyone the new experiences that they have been working on as Gearbox Publishing.

The Embracer Group acquired Perfect World Entertainment in December 2021 as well as another Perfect Worlds Subsidiary, the Cryptic Studios. Both of these teams will continue to work under Gearbox.

Gearbox also recently acquired Lost Boys Interactive, the studio that co-developed the latest Borderlands spin-off title, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, for an undisclosed amount. According to Shaun Nivens, the CEO and co-founder of Lost Boys Interactive, the company was created with a dream to work on products that would be globally recognized and loved, and joining Gearbox will allow them to do what they do best, which is making amazing games that entertain and inspire others.
