FIFA 21 tops charts in Australia and New Zealand

FIFA 21

In both Australia and New Zealand, FIFA 21 has topped the charts. This should come as a surprise to no one, given that the game is often the biggest release of any given year.

Last week’s best-seller in both regions, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, has dropped to second place in both charts. Last week’s second place, Star Wars: Squadrons, has mirrored this in it’s drop to third. Both games are still very popular, and seem to be some of the best October releases outside of FIFA 21.

In Australia Super Mario 3D All-Stars comes in fourth place. The Nintendo Switch games continue with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in sixth, showing a slight increase in Switch hardware sales week-on-week, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons comes in eighth. As with last week, there are no Nintendo Switch games in New Zealand’s chart.

Instead, Marvel’s Spider-Man comes in fifth in New Zealand. This may be a surge in popularity caused by the reveal of new gameplay for Spider-Man: Miles Morales. This expansion is heading to next-gen consoles, and many fans are excited to get their hands on it.

Grand Theft Auto 5 sits in ninth place in Australia, and sixth in New Zealand. The game’s sales are strong despite its age, however with the upcoming next-generation of consoles, many players will be eager to earn progress that will cross over to the latest version of the game. There is also still a promotion on PlayStation 4 promising $1 million in-game for GTA Online for all players who log into the game each month on PlayStation 4 until the next-gen version launches.

In New Zealand, the anticipation for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has driven Assassin’s Creed Odyssey into eighth, and God of War, the Viking reboot, to ninth place. The new Assassin’s Creed game looks to be the best ever, and most fans of the series are eager to play it.
