FIFA 20 reclaims the top of the UK physical chart

FIFA 20

While FIFA 20 tops the UK sales chart for the week, it’s Ring Fit Adventure that has seen one of the biggest boosts in terms of sales.

It’s not hard to see why FIFA 20 is so popular, it’s a core game for all sports fans, particularly in the UK. While televised sports have been postponed, fans have sought a fix for their need for football with FIFA 20, and thanks to a recent price discount to less than £25, the game has seen a 55 percent increase in sales week-on-week.

Ring Fit Adventure is definitely the game to pay attention to for the past week though. Sales surged by 1160 percent week-on-week. This is thanks in part to a TV marketing campaign, which was set up due to new stock coming in from Nintendo. Clearly the combination of stock and marketing prompted those who have been looking for the game to finally invest.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, which topped the charts last week, has dropped all the way to twenty-eighth place this week. Sales fell by 87 percent wee-on-week, most likely due to the fact that everyone who wanted the game has now purchased it.

51 Worldwide Games debuted in sixth place. The game is a new release for Nintendo Switch, which was also backed by a new TV marketing campaign, and packs in 51 classic games for players to enjoy at their leisure. This is a game that many thought would have consistent sales, as opposed to being a best-seller at launch. Time will tell just how consistent subsequent weeks are.

The Outer Worlds for Nintendo Switch debuted in thirtieth place this week. The game is a port of the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 versions. Unfortunately it appears as though too many sacrifices have been made with visuals, as the game is easily the worst-looking of all versions. This could have had an impact on sales, but many gamers are also likely to already own the game since it was hugely popular when it first launched.

The Last Of Us Remastered and Marvel’s Spider-Man both saw a 30 percent boost to sales week-on-week thanks to Sony’s State of Play promotion, landing them in eighth and tenth respectively.

The top ten best-selling games for the week ending June 6, 2020:

1. FIFA 20
2. Ring Fit Adventure
3. Animal Crossing: New Horizons
4. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
5. Grand Theft Auto 5
6. 51 Worldwide Games
7. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
8. The Last Of Us Remastered
9. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
10. Marvel’s Spider-Man
