Destroy All Humans! in the top three in UK sales chart

Destroy All Humans!

For the third week in a row, Ghost of Tsushima is at the top of the UK sales chart. The game has topped the chart for every week since its release.

Sales have dropped by 40 percent week-on-week, but with very little competition, it’s set to stay where it is for some time. The game also now matches the number of weeks in the top spot that The Last Of Us Part 2 had. However, there’s no other PlayStation 4 exclusive on the way to knock it off.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has managed to maintain second place for another week. This is easily the biggest boxed game of the year for Nintendo, and is about five weeks away from outselling the last game in the series, Animal Crossing: New Leaf. This data only includes physical sales though, so it’s likely that the game has already outsold the previous title.

While this was a quiet week, some new games did break into the chart. The first is Destroy All Humans! One Giant Step on Mankind, a remake of a game that first released in 2005. The franchise disappeared in 2008 after it failed to attract more players through what most believed was lack of innovation. After THQ Collapsed, it was presumed that the series had just been abandoned.

The game actually sold more than Destroy All Humans! Path of the Furon, which launched in 2008. So far it has shifted 50 percent more copies than the original, which debuted in thirty-third place in the chart, and has placed third this week. With digital sales taken into account as well, this remake’s release should be seen as a great success.

Skater XL is another new release that managed to break into the top ten. It debuted in seventh place, and has been in Steam Early Access for a short while now. This is set to be the start of a return to skateboarding games, with a few others on the horizon.

Streets of Rage 4 is the third game to return from a previously popular franchise or genre. It debuted in fourteenth place, which is impressive considering the series hasn’t seen a new release since 1994. The game launched digitally in April, so sales will probably be higher, and physical sales have almost certainly suffered due to the early digital availability.

Fairy Tail is the last new game in the chart. It debuts in fifteenth place, with only eight units separating it from Streets of Rage 4.

Ea’s Rocket Arena, while not a new release, has entered the chart in thirty-ninth place. It launched a few weeks ago, but only now has it seen enough popularity to enter the chart. The game saw a jump in sales of 279 percent thanks to a promotion making it around £10 to buy.
