Call of Duty remains on top of EMEAA chart

Call of Duty Modern Warfare

Luigi’s Mansion 3 wasn’t enough to dethrone Call of Duty: Modern Warfare from the top spot in the EMEAA chart this week. The latest Call of Duty is still the best selling game in the combined physical and retail chart.

While it could be argued that Modern Warfare had a lot of competition, The Outer Worlds and MediEvil didn’t really pose any danger. WWE 2K20 with its hugely buggy launch also wasn’t a threat to Modern Warfare, which is why Luigi’s Mansion 3 was the first real competition the game had faced.

Luigi’s Mansion 3 was one of the biggest and most important Nintendo Switch launches of 2019 so far. The title is second only to Pokemon Sword and Shield, though it luckily hasn’t had to compete with them having launched a couple of weeks ago. While the game has come in second in the combined physical and digital chart, it’s up against a multi-platform behemoth in Modern Warfare, which is still tracking ahead of last year’s entry to the series.

In fact, Call of Duty is doing well in every chart provided by ISFE GSD. The game has topped not only the digital and physical charts, but also the combined chart, and the units sold and money earned charts as well.

The only new entry to the EMEAA this week was Nighthawk Interactive’s Disney Classic Games: Aladdin + The Lion King. The game entered the chart in fourteenth place, which is quite good considering that most of its appeal is to those games who played the originals many years ago.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint rose from seventh to tenth over the week, which could have something to do with Ubisoft making announcements for upcoming DLC for the title. The game still has a core fan base despite being considered a worse entry than the previous title, Wildlands.

The best selling games, combined digital and physical, in the EMEAA for the week ending November 3, 2019:

1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
2. Luigi’s Mansion 3
3. FIFA 20
4. Grand Theft Auto 5
5. MediEvil
6. Ring Fit Adventure
7. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint
8. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege
9. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Edition
10. The Outer Worlds
