Borderlands games top UK download chart

Borderlands The Pre-Sequel

For the period during and immediately after E3 2019, the last two games in the Borderlands series, Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, topped the UK digital sales chart.

For the week ending on June 9, 2019, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel was the most downloaded game in the UK for the second week in a row. Borderlands 2 followed in second place for the same week, but dropped to third place for the week ending on June 16.

In addition to both games being heavily discounted, Borderlands 2 recently received a new piece of DLC that sets up events for Borderlands 3. The third canonical game in the series launches this September, and is eagerly awaited by fans of Borderlands.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel rose from 351st to the top of the UK digital sales chart for the week ending on June 9, and has held that position for the week ending on June 16 as well. Borderlands 2 rose from 255th place on the week ending on June 6, and has only dropped one place since.

Other games also saw favorable sales thanks to discounts around the E3 period. Marvel’s Spider-Man rose from 105th place to 5th for the week ending on June 9, and rose again to 4th for the week ending on June 16. Likewise, God of War rose from 173rd to 10th for the week ending June 9, and maintained that position for the following week.

Microsoft held a similar sale to Sony’s Days of Play discounts, boosting Forza Horizon 4 to 23rd from 102nd for the week ending on June 9, and rose again to 17th the next week. It’s likely that the announcement of the new LEGO DLC for the game also had something to do with increased sales. Sea of Thieves jumped from 83rd to 25th for the same week, falling a little to 29th the following week.

Elsewhere in the chart, Watch Dogs 2 saw a boost in sales with the announcement of the third game in the series. The Sims 4 saw a boost too thanks to the reveal of brand new DLC for the game, Island Living.
