This week in the UK weekly game sales chart, the top two best-sellers remain unchanged. Marvel’s Avengers, despite receiving some subpar review scores, still sits at the top of the chart. The second place is also still filled by the incredibly popular Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 remakes.
Marvel’s Avengers saw sales fall by 60 percent week-on-week, but the numbers are clearly still very strong. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 saw sales fall by 54 percent week-on-week. However, it’s still the fastest-selling game in the franchise’s 21-year history.
A new entry to the chart this week is a remaster of Kingdoms of Amalur. It originally launched in 2012, and re-enters the chart in fourth place this week. The original was so popular that it made it to the top spot in the chart at the time, so this remaster is doing quite well. It’s thought that the game has sold much better on digital storefronts, with 74 percent of the original game’s sales coming through digital platforms, so it’s almost certainly sold better than we can track physically.
Minecraft Dungeons launched on digital storefronts in May this year, but last week saw the game’s physical edition release. It enters the chart in sixth place this week. The game sold best on Nintendo Switch, with 76 percent of all copies sold for Nintendo’s handheld. PlayStation 4 saw the other 16 percent of sales. However, it’s likely that most of these sales are from collectors, since the game has been available for so long now.
NBA 2K21 dropped from third to eighth this week with a drop in sales of 61 percent week-on-week. The game’s week one sales will have seen all the hardcore fans pick up their copy, so now sales will probably fall off gradually.
