Animal Crossing: New Horizons tops UK chart again

Animal Crossing New Horizons - Reveal

With new stock being made available for retailers, boxed sales saw a boost in the UK last week. It’s largely down to this increase in stock levels that Animal Crossing: New Horizons was able to reach the top of the UK physical sales chart, experiencing a 53 percent week-on-week increase in sales.

This is the first week that the new Animal Crossing game has topped the charts since it launched, and is very impressive considering that it’s a Nintendo Switch exclusive.

FIFA 20 sales dropped by only 1 percent week-on-week, holding strong despite most consumers not being able to make physical purchases. Even so, the game fell to second place behind Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ success.

Ring Fit Adventure is seeing a lot of success too. The game has been out of stock for quite some time, and copies sell out almost as soon as they’re made available. Now that more stock has been made available for consumers, it’s being snapped up as a way to keep fit while being locked up indoors.

Unfortunately, Nintendo is still struggling to meet the Ring Fit Adventure demand. With regular shipments, all of which sell out very quickly, the game has moved from 25th to 10th place in the chart over the last three weeks. Last week, with a week-on-week boost to sales of 95 percent, the game now sits in fourth place.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe also saw a sales boost, moving to seventh place with an increase week-on-week of 10 percent. This is probably caused by the new Nintendo Switch system sales. Luigi’s Mansion 3 saw a similar performance boost, up by 8 percent week-on-week, placing ninth this week.

The only new release for the week was Trials of Mana. The game has debuted in 16th place, with 61 percent of sales for the Nintendo Switch, and the rest for PlayStation 4.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake saw a 50 percent week-on-week fall in sales, and places eighth this week. Resident Evil 3 Remake dropped out of the top-selling games chart, and sits in 17th place this week.

The boxed game sales market saw 200,000 sales over the past week, which is still 50,000 above what is typical for sales at this point in the year.
