id Software is a game developer company, which was established in 1991. id Software has invented and applied in its games a number of innovative software technologies and algorithms, which revolutionized the computer and video games, especially in 3D graphics. Its early works, Wolfenstein and Doom series have become iconic in the game world, and the technologies used there have served for the development of some game engines used today.
In 2009, id Software was acquired by Bethesda Softworks.
