Embracer Group AB, formerly known as THQ Nordic AB, is a video game holding company headquartered in Karlstad, Sweden. It was founded in 2011 as Nordic Games Licensing. It acquired some assets from THQ, which went bankrupt in early 2013. In 2016, the company was renamed THQ Nordic AB and went public getting listed on Nasdaq First North. In September 2019, in order to avoid confusion with THQ Nordic GmbH, which is part of the group, THQ Nordic AB was renamed Embracer Group, while THQ Nordic GmbH retained its name.
Embracer Group owns ten operative groups: Amplifier Game Invest, Asmodee, Coffee Stain Holding, Dark Horse Media, DECA Games, Easybrain, Gearbox Entertainment, Koch Media, Saber Interactive, and THQ Nordic GmbH. Each group has its own operations, subsidiaries, and development studios.
