The Last of Us Part 2 tops the US weekly sales chart

While it only launched on Friday, The Last Of Us Part 2 has already topped the US weekly game sales chart, according to our own data.

The game has become the fastest-selling PlayStation 4 release ever, just as the console cycle comes to an end. The last game to hold this title was the incredibly popular Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is sitting in second place. This is likely due to an increase in the demand for Nintendo Switch consoles. Now that the stock is there to meet this demand, sales are increasing rapidly.

Ring Fit Adventure is still proving to be popular with consumers. The game rose to third place with an increase in sales of 24 percent week-on-week. While lockdown rules around the world are slowly being lifted, gyms still aren’t open, and the game provides an easy way to keep fit at home.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare drops to fourth this week, from first last week, with a 38 percent drop in sales week-on-week. Warzone saw the start of a new season last week, but interest has obviously died down since.

NBA 2K20 dropped to fifth place in the chart, and 51 Worldwide Games dropped to sixth, with a 6 percent decrease in week-on-week sales. This game in particular is proving to be quite popular, holding steady sales, and is expected to remain so for the foreseeable future.

Grand Theft Auto 5 hasn’t shifted from seventh place, but Animal Crossing: New Horizons is now finally losing momentum in eighth, down from third place. The latest Animal Crossing game saw a drop in sales of 48 percent week-on-week.

Madden NFL 20 has seen a week-on-week sales boost of 64 percent to sales, moving from fourteenth to ninth place. This is due to the reveal of Madden NFL 21, which will release later this year.
