Animal Crossing: New Horizons tops UK chart in another quiet week

With another quiet week for releases in the UK, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has held strong at the top of the physical sales chart.

Despite seeing a sales fall of 34 percent week-on-week, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has found it easy to stay strong at the top of the chart. There have been no new releases to challenge the game, and those that are available pale in comparison when it comes to popularity.

Grand Theft Auto 5 sits in second place in the chart. This is interesting because the game is currently being offered for free on the Epic Games Store. It’s possible that the surge of interest in the game, which led to the Epic Games Store crashing, has helped to maintain physical sales of the game as well.

Further down the chart, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 managed to re-enter in twentieth place. The game saw a 62 percent rise in sales, which could be thanks to a promotional discount being held on the latest expansion.

God of War also re-entered the chart, managing to make it to thirty-first place, thanks to a 32 percent rise in sales. This could be down to a promotion on the game, or on PlayStation 4 consoles, since the game comes bundled with the hardware.

With the sun coming out more, and people wanting to get fit for summer, Just Dance 2020 has managed to re-enter the top ten in tenth place. The game is one of the few available that will genuinely get players moving, and can’t be played while sat down, but it’s more accessible as a fitness game because it’s more about dancing.

The rest of the top ten for last week looks much the same as it has for the past few weeks. The total number of boxed games sold managed to hit 200,000, which is still ahead of what would normally be seen in a given week at this time of year, around 150,000 games per week.
