Disney Interactive Studios, Inc. is a video game publisher and developer, based in Burbank, California. It is a subsidiary of Disney Interactive, which is a part of the The Walt Disney Company. The company was founded in 1988 and started with a name Walt Disney Computer Software. It was later renamed to Buena Vista Games, and in 2007 it was renamed again, and received its current name, Disney Interactive Studios.
Most of the games released by the publisher are typically tie-in products to existing Disney character franchises. The company owns four outside development studios:
- Avalanche Software, acquired in April 2005;
- Gamestar, acquired in February 2009
- Rocket Pack, acquired in 2011
- LucasArts Entertainment, acquired in 2012
