FIFA 20 remains at the top of the EMEAA charts

After a week of no new major releases, it’s no surprise that FIFA 20 has managed to retain its position at the top of the EMEAA combined chart. In fact, five of the top ten games in the chart sold enough copies to be able to retain their positions, making for a consistent chart week-on-week.

This week is the second recent consecutive run in the top position for FIFA 20, and the sixth total week that the game has been at the top of the chart.

Behind FIFA 20 is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which looks set to maintain a good position thanks to positive sales. The game could well be a Christmas hit if it can outsell FIFA 20 at some point.

Most of the movement in the chart this week was generated by games for Nintendo Switch, which continues to sell well against the dropping interest in the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe jumped from tenth place to fifth this week, Luigi’s Mansion 3 moved up from sixth to third, and Pokemon Sword and Shield maintained their positions in fourth and ninth respectively.

Elsewhere in the chart Nintendo titles continued to perform well. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games: Tokyo 2020 jumped from 19th to 11th, Minecraft Switch Edition moved from 17th to 13th, Ring Fit Adventure made an impressive move from 26th to 14th on retail sales alone, and Super Mario Party made a drastic shift from 40th to 15th. It’s thought that Cyber Monday deals and other Nintendo eShop promotional offers may have helped boost these games in the chart.

In digital-only sales, Life is Strange 2: Episode 5 debuted in fourth place in the chart, just behind Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, but ahead of Tekken 7 which jumped from 60th up into the top ten. That jump in digital sales wasn’t enough to get Tekken 7 into the combined chart though.
