U.S. best selling video games: Week of November 2, 2019

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare holds the Number 1 position of the U.S. Top 10 of best selling retail and wholesale video games. In spite of a 45% sales drop from its launch week, the game still sells incredibly well. This was the reason that the new iteration of the Halloween franchise Luigi’s Mansion landed in the second place. Luigi’s Mansion 3 has launched with a stellar performance. It is already the fastest-selling physical Switch game of 2019. The sales of Luigi’s Mansion 3 are 1.5 times higher than its predecessor, Luigi’s Mansion 2 that released in March 2013. But even that was not enough to dethrone Call of Duty: Modern Warfare from the top position.

NBA 2K20 has had a relatively small decrease in week-on-week sales of 15% and raised to the third place. Nintendo’s Ring Fit Adventure is performing very well. With only a slight decrease of 12% in week-on-week sales it raised to the fourth position.

WWE 2K20 has had a 70% drop of sales and went from the second to the fifth place. The game has been highly criticized both in the press and in social media for numerous bugs and flows, with some of them even becoming viral memes, which obviously affected the sales in its second week.

Mario Kart 8: Deluxe continues to sell very well and has raised by four positions this week to the sixth place. The Outer Worlds by Obsidian and Take Two has had a 62% sales drop its second week and landed in the eighth place. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint and Plants vs Zombies: Battle for Neighborville still provide decent sales and are managing to stay in the Top 10.

Overall, this was a rather busy week in terms of sales despite there were not many new releases. Luigi’s Mansion 3 was the major release, and the only other new game in the charts was Disney Classic Games: Aladdin and The Lion King. It did not make it to Top 10, landing in the eleventh place.
